ABOUT METRAC: Formed in 1984, METRAC is an award-winning and highly respected Toronto not-for-profit agency, provincially incorporated to serve Ontarians. To continue a tradition of excellence, METRAC is currently accepting applications to join its Board of Directors and contribute to building a committed, engaged and active volunteer Board. METRAC’s programs and services are focused on preventing and ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV) towards women, girls, youth, 2-Spirit, Trans and Non-binary people known to be at higher risk of GBV.

METRAC works from an anti-oppression, non-discriminatory framework. Our volunteer Board of Directors is the public trustee for METRAC. As a member of the Board, each Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization. Directors are elected by membership at the Annual General Meeting and serve a two-year term with possibility of re-election for two additional terms, for a total of 6 years.

If successful, your name is submitted by the Nominations Committee to the Board for recommendation to be put forward at elections to be held at the upcoming Annual General Meeting.
As a Director of METRAC’s Board, you will be asked to attend semi-monthly Board meetings and to serve on one of our Board committees, with a focus on quality and risk (legal) control, including:
– Executive Committee
– Finance and Audit Committee
– Human Resources (HR) and Nominations Committee
– Planning and Evaluation Committee
– Fundraising/Resource Development Committee
– Communications Committee.
You can expect to spend one hour monthly, per committee meeting, plus attend one Board meeting lasting 2 hours, every other month. In general, a commitment of approximately five hours per month (for reading, preparation and meeting attendance) will meet your obligations to the Board. Periodic workshops and development activities are available to all Board members.
