Program Summary: METRAC’s Black Community Cultural Competency (BCCC) Project will examine how Black women access the workforce. We will conduct extensive research on their experiences, including their longevity and advancement in various jobs. This will involve research, gathering data, conducting focus groups, and offering workshops on employment and human rights to educate said group and help them understand their rights and options in Ontario. The project also aims to analyze the systemic issues and biases that affect them in the workplace.
Position Summary: Reporting to the BCCC Program Manager (PM), the Program Assistant (PA) will assist with administrative tasks, coordinate with community organizations, data entry, and other duties assigned. In the absence of the PM, support and supervision will be provided by the Executive Director or Legal Director. The PA will also work and collaborate with other program teams.
Responsibilities:
- Upholds METRAC’s mission, vision, and core values
- Supports the work of the BCCC Program Manager
- Participates in training, weekly (or as needed) check-ins, and mentoring sessions
- Coordinates consultations with people/organizations in communities across Ontario
- Supports the PM with outreach to build and strengthen connections with community partners and organizations
- Monitors and facilitates requests for workshops
- Helps with planning, preparing, and implementing online community events and forums
- Reviews, and analyzes evaluation data (collected online through Forms)
- Assists with social media online platforms
- Designs/creates marketing and project materials using Canva
- Assists in maintaining METRAC’s websites, making sure all community resources and links are up-to-date and functional
- Engages in internal committee processes to ensure integration of METRAC’s goals and cross-team partnerships
- Prepares written and oral reports on project activities, outputs & outcomes
- Other operational duties as required
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of administrative experience in a non-profit or corporate setting
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (social work, social services, women’s studies, business administration, or other equivalent education)
- Advanced knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence against individuals who identify as women, youth, Two-Spirit, Nonbinary, and Trans people
- Proven track record of working within an equity, anti-oppression framework, and practice in supporting marginalized groups
- Feminist, anti-oppression/intersectional analysis of race, gender, and economic status
- Knowledge of community-based and culturally appropriate resources and services that relate to Black women s in the community
- Experience in liaisons and partnerships with community organizations, public and private sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to collect and analyze data
- Computer literacy (MS Office suite, databases, and social media)
- Ability to collect and maintain sensitive information with confidentiality
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience in report writing
- Ability to work in a community agency with limited resources

Position Summary: As a Research Consultant, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research, analyzing data, creating surveys, and providing actionable insights to support METRAC’s Black Community Cultural Competency, (BCCC) Project. The Researcher will work closely with the BCCC Program Manager and Evaluator.
Responsibilities:
- Upholds METRAC’s mission, vision, and core values
- Consults and collaborates with community groups/organizations concerning employment practices for Black women in the workforce
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to gather insights on industry trends, Black women’s experience in the workforce (historical and current practices)
- Design and implement research methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups
- Analyze and interpret data using statistical tools and software, presenting findings in clear and compelling formats
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate research findings into strategic recommendations
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate insights to the community and relevant parties
- Monitors program outputs and outcomes for reporting and planning purposes
- Prepares written and oral reports on program/project activities, outputs & outcomes
- Ensures that all research and information is gathered and disseminated consistently and in a timely manner
- Collaborates with the BCCC Program Manager and Evaluator to develop terms of reference and operating principles for the entire duration of the project
- Works with the BCCC Program Manager and Evaluator to develop a logical framework for key performance indicators for the project, including those that reflect the guiding principles and values of the project
- Conducts detailed literature reviews to understand the research background and identify gaps in existing knowledge
- Keeps informed about current trends and new developments in research methods
- Ensures that the research adheres to ethical standards and complies with relevant regulations
- Obtains any necessary permissions and approvals when applicable
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (social sciences, women’s studies, business, research, or other equivalent education)
- Minimum of two (2) years experience producing research reports, discussion papers, and conducting detailed research, analysis, and report writing
- Proven experience in research, preferably in a non-profit or consulting environment
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Excel)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to collect and maintain sensitive information with confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work effectively independently and within teams
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment requiring collaboration

- Knowledge of community-based organizations supporting Black women
