Social Research Assistant
Position Summary: Reporting to the BCCC Program Manager, the Social Research Assistant will conduct a research project on current workplace environmental stressors for violence against women (VAW) workers; you will conduct literature reviews, design and administer surveys and one-on-one interviews, maintain database to track and research findings, administrative tasks, outreach, coordinate with community organizations, data entry, and other duties as assigned.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Upholds METRAC’s mission, vision, and core values
- Works with supervisor to create a workplan of goals, objectives, and tasks for guiding and monitoring daily work activities
- Ensures the goals and objectives are met
- Research environmental stressors in the violence against women (VAW) sector
- Conduct literature reviews
- Recruit BIPOC participants in Ontario
- Liaise with VAW organizations to contribute to evidence-based research on workplace stressors
- Assists with compiling and analyzing data
- Conducts research on best practices in promoting and distributing information on workplace stressors and how to mitigate them for rural communities and marginalized groups
- Supports the Program Manager (PM) with outreach
- Assists with data entry on outreach, tracking, and survey analysis
- Promote research project, social media updates, create social media posts,
- Supports the PM in developing, organizing, and completing tasks using software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook, and Canva
- Design and Create infographic resources on workplace stressors and how to mitigate them
- Create and develop findings report, including recommendations for distribution to participants and the general public
- Works collaboratively with other METRAC program and project teams
Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of administrative experience in a non-profit or corporate setting
- At least one (1) year of research experience
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (research, social work, social services, women’s studies, business administration, or other equivalent education)
- Familiarity with the not-for-profit sector and particularly, violence against women organizations
- Ability to work independently and within a goal-driven team
- Advanced knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence against individuals who identify as women, youth, Two-Spirit, Nonbinary, and Trans people
- Proven track record of working within an equity, anti-oppression framework, and practice in supporting marginalized groups
- Demonstrates commitment to equity, mutual respect, teamwork, working with diverse people with diverse ideas; ability to adapt
- Feminist, anti-oppression/intersectional analysis of race, gender, and socio-economic status
- Knowledge of community-based and culturally appropriate resources and services that relate to the VAW sector
- Experience in building partnerships with community organizations, public, and private sectors
- Excellent English (written and verbal) communication skills
- Ability to collect and analyze data
- Computer literacy (MS Office suite, databases, and social media Apps)
- Ability to collect and maintain sensitive information with confidentiality
- Effective interpersonal skills

Marketing Coordinator
Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, as the marketing coordinator, you will play a key role in promoting the agency’s mission and programs; support with the planning, development and execution of outreach strategies; manage social media content and create materials that engage donors, volunteers and the public. You will work closely with internal teams and ensure marketing efforts align with the organization’s goals.
Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Works closely with your supervisor to create and develop a work plan outlining goals, objectives, and tasks that support the agency’s marketing activities and goals
- Ensures the goals and objectives of the projects are met
- Supports and promotes the agency’s brand, resources, and visibility within the community
- Creates visually appealing materials according to agency standards
- Collaborates with partners, the Executive Director and project managers to bring ideas to fruition
- Maintain and grow public engagement with METRAC’s social media presence (X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook, etc.
- Research and coordinator opportunities for public engagements
- Assists with updates to METRAC’s website, including events
- Manage email marketing platform (MailChimp) and social media accounts
- Prepare reports to track progress and inform future initiatives
- Supports supervisor in developing, organizing, and completing tasks and projects

Qualifications:
- At least one (1) year of marketing experience in a non-profit or corporate setting
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (marketing, business marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or other equivalent education)

- Advanced knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence against individuals who identify as women, youth, Two-Spirit, Nonbinary, and Trans people

Community Liaison Worker
Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Liaison Worker will assist with administrative tasks, outreach, coordinate with community organizations, create & update databases for tracking purposes, and other duties as assigned.

Safety Program Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safety Program Assistant works closely with the Safety Program Manager and Safety Program Coordinator to conduct outreach, organize and facilitate safety audit training, and assist with research, data collection, and other administrative tasks in support of METRAC’s Safety Program. The Safety Program Assistant will work with internal program teams and collaborate with external organizations and communities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures METRAC’s mission and objectives of the Safety Program are being met
- Assists the SP Coordinator with developing, implementing, and evaluating online and in-person safety workshops/trainings based on METRAC’s Safety Audit model for Youth to learn about community safety/violence prevention and intervention strategies
- Participates in orientation, training, scheduled regular check-ins, and mentoring sessions
- Assists the SP Coordinator with researching: the latest trends and best practices in promoting and distributing community safety information; current/promising programs, resources, and innovative initiatives to advance high-quality and effective youth-centered mentorship programs
- Facilitate safety audit workshops in NIAs within Toronto and across Ontario
- Supports the Coordinator with outreach activities to build and strengthen connections with community partners and organizations
- Assists in strengthening and maintaining METRAC’s Safety Information System (SISTO), making sure safety alerts and information are sent to Twitter audiences daily
- Data Collection: input audit evaluation data using Forms
- Planning, preparing, and implementing online community events and forums
- Assists with managing social media online platforms (Twitter)
- Design/create safety content and marketing materials using Canva
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate and or post-secondary education accomplished and/or in progress (college and/or university) related to Gender Studies, Communications, Design, Sociology, Equity Studies, Community Safety, Social Work, or similar programs
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong Facilitation skills
- Comfortable with Public Speaking
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as part of a small staff team within a small interdisciplinary organizational team
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with attention to details
- Solid understanding of gender-based violence issues, using a feminist, intersectional and anti-oppression, and trauma-informed analysis
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and experience with social media platforms (Twitter)
- Familiarity with Canva is an asset
- Creativity and enthusiasm; reliability; willingness to learn; and openness
- Experience working within a feminist, anti-oppression/intersectional analysis is an asset
