Ripples of Voices: Waves of Change is a collaborative sound and spoken word project designed to create a safe space for marginalized women and transpeople to express and share their gendered experiences living in the City of Toronto.
The project, a collaboration between THRIVE, and Rosina Kazi and Nicholas Murray from LAL, consisted of three workshops with nine different women and trans groups across the city. Participants created collaborative tracks for the CD, and the launch of the CD coincided with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence between November 25, and December 10, 2012. This project was provided with funding support by the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council and METRAC.
THRIVE, the Multicultural Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Oppression, is a coalition of diverse women advancing a movement to end violence and oppression against racialized women and their communities. THRIVE is supported and facilitated by METRAC, a charity based in Toronto, Canada that prevents violence against women and youth.
